NDC Not Responsible For 'Boot-For-Boot' T-Shirts [Video]

The National Democratic Congress [NDC] Ashanti Regional Secretary, Kwame Zu has denied strongly claims that his party has endorsed a T-shirt with the inscription ‘Boot-for-boot’ in support of former President John Mahama’s infamous comment.

Some individuals printed and used the ‘Boot-for-boot’ shirts during a health walk in Kumasi over the weekend, but Kwame Zu claimed he did not see them despite pictorial evidence.

“We never ordered anyone to do that. This is not coming from the party. The Ashanti region NDC is not responsible for those t-shirts,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie'.

It would be recalled that former President John Dramani Mahama in the run-up to the NDC flagbearer contest sounded a word of caution to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that they [NDC] will “match them boot-for-boot” if they do not desist from attacking their members.

John Mahama who gave the warning at a meeting with supporters in the Adaklu Constituency said, "We are not going to joke in 2020 and I’m sounding a warning to the NPP – we are going to match them boot-for-boot.”

Members of NDC wore the Mahama boot-for-boot t-shirt at a health walk organized by the leadership of NDC in the Oforikrom Constituency of the Ashanti region.

Speaking to members who were seen wearing the red t-shirts, they explained that the party is serious to win power from NPP.

According to them, they are solidly behind former president John Dramani Mahama for making the boot-for-boot comment.

“NPP cannot win 2020 elections if the election is conducted fairly. They have planned with the EC boss Jean Mensah to rig the election. We will match them boot-for-boot. NPP cannot intimate us. Ghanaians will vote for John Mahama and NDC,” they said.
