We Accept The Name ‘Walewale Adam Smith’ – Dr. Bawumia's Economic Advisor

Economic Advisor to the Vice President, Dr. Gideon Boako says they [NPP] diligently welcome and accept the new name given the Vice President by the National Democratic Congress [NDC].

“Frankly, we thank God that members of the NDC have realized Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is a ‘Walewale Adam Smith’, simply meaning, the father of Economics in Ghana who hails from Walewale in the Northern part of Ghana,” he said.

Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central in the Upper East Region, Isaac Adongo on its public lecture on the theme “The state of the Ghanaian Economy; Myths and Truths” christened the Vice President as the Walewale Version of Adam Smith.

Adam Smith was a Scottish philosopher and economist best known as the author of An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations in 1776. He lived from 1723 to 1790.

On UTV’s ‘Mpu ne Mpu’ programme, Dr. Gideon Boako called on members of the largest opposition party to learn from the Vice President if not for anything at all, the name they have given him.

“My advice to members of the NDC especially their economic team is to humble themselves and learn more from him [Vice President],” he said.

However, he debunked Ato Forson’s claim that the cedi depreciates anytime the Vice President speaks.

“ . . Ato Forson cannot prove that the cedi depreciates any time Dr. Bawumia talks . . . it is just a political talk,” he said.
