PUB: We Need All On Board - Education Ministry

The Ministry of Education is calling every stakeholder on board to help with the putting together of the Public University bill (PUB).

The PUB seeks to “Provide the procedure for the establishment of Public Universities, principles of management of Public universities, the legal status of Public universities, the procedure for financing Public universities and administration and supervision of the activities of Public universities and related matters.”

However, some educationists have stood against the proposed bill because according to them it will fight the autonomy of Public Universities.

However, the Public Relations officer of the Education Ministry says the bill is for the good of all and that if various stakeholders come together, it will benefit all.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Ekow Vincent Assafuah said “The bill is to make sure there is some amount of uniformity so far as governance of our universities are concerned. With this when you go to KNUST, the law that applies there will also be applicable in other institutions. It’s a work in progress and so we are hoping that stakeholders will help in bringing out a very good law to help regulate our universities."
