Eric Adjei Writes: Setting The Records Straight…Prez Akuffo Addo Lies To The People Of Sankore

It is getting increasingly disturbing that, President Akuffo Addo and his vice Dr. Bawumia have decided to embark on lies telling expedition just to discredit the erstwhile Mahama administration and incite Ghanaians against the administration.

The Vice President recently defamed himself during town hall meeting when he lied to his audience that, not a single major road was constructed by the erstwhile Mahama administration in the Upper East region. A quick fact check by some reputable media organisations revealed that the information he put out was false.

In a recent visit by the President and his entourage to Sankore in the Ahafo region, the good people of Sankore humbly appealed to the president of Ghana as a matter of urgency to fix their roads particularly the road from Sankore- Nobeko. Instead of focusing on the request, the President started blaming his predecessor.

The President chastised his predecessor for capturing the the road in the Green book as one of its achievements when in actual fact hadn't been touched. Fact Check revealed that the road was not captured in the Green Book as the President claimedAfter a check, it has been revealed that, the said road was not captured in the green book as the President claimed.

My checks revealed that the NDC ON 5th July of 2016 awarded the said road to a contractor. The road was awarded to Messrs B.K Nsiah Company Limited at a contract sum of GHC27,090,676.28 . The contract was to construct a 20km bitumen road surfacing from Sankore to Nobeko.30% of work had been done before there was change in power in 2017. The president then instructed the contractor and many other contractors to stop work for an audit to be done. This is a verifiable fact.

As at now, most of the roads including the Sankore-Nobeko have been abandoned. It must be placed on record that, under the leadership of President Mahama a lot of road projects including Goaso-Kukuom, Tepa junction to Goaso, Dormaa to Nkrankwanta, Gambia No. 2, Kyeremasu among many others were undertaken to improve upon the lives of people in the Brong- Ahafo region and Ghana as a whole.

It is sad that, the president sought to play with the minds and intelligence of the good people of Sankore knowing clearly he has ordered the contractor to stop work on the road. One wonders if that is a deliberate attempt by the president to spew lies for political favor against president Mahama anytime he gets the opportunity or he is not being adequately briefed on issues in the country.

The notorious fact is that this administration is no more interested in governance and development of the country. its main agenda and focus is-making John Mahama and the NDC unpopular. The government of Nana Akufo-Addo has disappointed its supporters including its die-hards and fanatics. The administration has failed woefully and these scary facts have been confirmed by the world bank and other respected institutions. Ghanaians wake up to a daily increase in prices of fuel, goods and services, an ailing and weakening economy, needless reforms in our educational sector among others.

To the president of Ghana, the good people of Sankore and Ghanaians as a whole are waiting patiently for you to fulfill the litany of promises ranging from one district one factory, one village one dam, the construction of 350 senior high schools, the fight against corruption among others.

Let me state on record that, the legacy and achievements of President Mahama is still fresh in the minds of the people, the huge investment in the energy sector, the construction of many schools and health facilities, the investment in agriculture and other sectors of the economy.

To the good people of Ghana, let us not fall for this mischief and unnecessary attempts by the president to twist facts. Let us work hard and bring back President Mahama and the NDC back to power to advance the fortunes of the country.

God bless our homeland Ghana.

Eric Adjei,
Brong Ahafo Regional Deputy Communication Officer-NDC
