Build Ghana Film Village In Kumasi, Or We Will Vote Against You - Kumawood Stars Tell NPP (VIDEO)

Some Kumawood stars have threatened to vote against the New Patriotic Party(NPP) if they decide to build a proposed Ghana Film Village in Koforidua and not Kumasi.

Veteran movie producer, Samuel Nyamekye of Miracle Films, who is leading the agenda to make sure the historic project is taken to the Ashanti regional capital, has threatened to hit the streets with a massive demonstration to put their grievances across to the appropriate authorities.

Speaking on Peace Fm’s Entertainment Review, Samuel Nyamekye accompanied by actors Salinko and Big Akwes said they will "do whatever it takes including a demonstration to make sure their voices are heard".

According to the Miracle Films producer, Kumasi has the most vibrant movie industry in Ghana and deserves the honour to have the Ghana Film Village built there to boost the industry .

They added that they will incite the entire Kumasi movie stars, stakeholders and Ashanti region as a whole not to vote for the ruling NPP during the upcoming 2020 general elections should the government fail to adhere to their request.

A section of the 2019 budget reads, "the government has acquired 200 acres of land in the Eastern Region to build a Film Village". This, they believe is misplaced because the NPP’s stronghold is the Ashanti region where they get most of their votes in past elections and also because according to them, Kumawood is largest film community in Ghana.

Meanwhile, Mark Okraku Mantey, who is the President of Creative Arts Council, also spoke on the show and stated that the Kumawood stars should "use the right channel like petitioning the authorities" in charge with their grievances "rather than ranting on radio or going on demonstration".
