Touton Ghana Organizes Forests Caretakers Foootball Gala

As a signatory to the Cocoa and Forests Initiative (CFI), Touton Ghana is implementing action plans in the country to protect and restore forests, support sustainable production and farmer livelihoods and to promote social inclusion and community engagement using football as a special tool.

It is against this backdrop that Touton Ghana, COCOBOD, Forestry Commission, partnership for Forest, financed by UK Aid and partners, have put together a classic football gala involving ten CREMAS namely: River Sukusuku, River Debe, Asuo Bia Nkyirima, Elliorkrom Stool lands, Asuopiri, Juaboso District, Krokosue Hills, Kwamebikrom Stool lands, Manzan Stool lands and Yawmetwa Ntewura.

The gala is scheduled for the 26th of April, 2019 at Sefwi Asempaneye in the Northern part of Western Region. Youth in the above Cremas will have the opportunity to interact with Ghana's ace Comedian, Akrobeto, who will be the special guest.

GJA Radio Sports journalist of the year and three-time Commentator of the year, Dan Kwaku Yeboah, will run an exciting commentary on the sidelines to entertain the youth, farmers and the entire community.

Each of the participating teams will receive a handsome cash reward as appearance fees, whilst the winner takes home a glittering trophy. The finals will take place in August, 2019.

Association football has over the years been used as a powerful tool to unite people and achieve other pertinent social goals.

The project also forms part of Touton Ghana's greater vision to address deforestation and forest degradation in the cocoa sector.
