Limited Voter Registration: EC Is On The Right Path - Evans Nimako

Director of Elections of the New Patriotic Party [NPP], Evans Nimako says the Electoral Commission’s idea to conduct a new limited voters' registration is laudable despite the opposition NDC’s objection.

To him, there is nothing wrong with the decision, but said his party will not hesitate to seek the court for further clarification if the need arise.

“For now, there’s nothing wrong, they are on the right path,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.

The Electoral Commission has served notice a new voters’ register will be compiled ahead of the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The Commission noted it is currently inspecting offices of political parties, according to a press statement after an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting.

But, the National Democratic Congress [NDC] is considering filing a suit to stop the Electoral Commission from creating a new voters' register for the 2020 elections, a member of the NDC’s legal team Abraham Amaliba has revealed.
