The Head of the European Union Delegation to Ghana, Her Excellency Diana Acconcia has paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of Parliament, Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh who is also the MP for Nsawam Adoagyiri.

Her Excellency Diana Acconcia was accompanied by Mr Paolo Salvia Head of the Political section of the EU Delegation to Ghana.

Her Excellency Diana Acconcia and Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh discussed a wide range of issues such as strengthening collaboration between the European Union Parliament and the Parliament of Ghana as the European Union prepares for election in May 2019 to elect its Members of Parliament.

They also discussed issues of Climate Change, Renewable energy, Trade and Economic cooperation .

Her Excellency Diana Acconcia described as good news the Planting for export initiative which was launched by the President Nana Akuffo Addo today and said the European Union will be glad to see Ghana increase its volume of export of products to the European market .

She said climate change is the greatest threat to humanity hence the need for the world to double its efforts to fight carbon emission adding that Africa has a great role to play in this effort .

Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh was hopeful that African governments will push for a review of the Coutonu agreement for ratification by the various Parliaments in Africa to enhance bilateral cooperation between Africa and the European Union.

On the issue of promoting clean and renewable energy, Hon Frank Annoh-Dompreh noted that Africa has a long way to go.

He however said the recent decision by the President, HE Nana Akuffo Addo for public institutions to make more use of solar energy is a good indication of government's commitment to promote clean energy in the country.

He therefore challenged the private sector to play their role effectively towards the promotion of clean and renewable energy .

On trade between Ghana and the EU, Ghanaian exporters are aware of the standards and expectations of products that are exported to the EU market and will not hesitate to take advantage of the opportunity, he added.
