"Stick To The Old System" - Anim Piesie Tells EC

The probability of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) budging from its stance on the limited registration exercise to be undertaken by the Electoral Commission (EC), appears more of a fantasy than a reality.

The opposition party insists doing it at the district level is a no-no and wants the EC to stick to the decentralisation of the exercise up to the electoral area levels instead of the 260 districts offices.

The EC intends to hold its forthcoming limited registration exercise at the District level across the country on the 24th of May, 2019.

However, the NDC claims this decision will disenfranchise a lot of Ghanaians.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, Monday, Bernard Anim Piesie, a member of the Communication team of the NDC asked the EC to ‘stick to the old system’.

It will not favour any political party…they should stick to the old system so that everybody will be encouraged to take part. As it stands now, people are not interested in taking part. It will inconvenience a lot of people,” he indicated.
