Aflao Border Drivers Cry Foul....Some Customs Officers Extorting And Harassing Us - Driver

Drivers and traders plying on the Aflao border have expressed concerns about the high level of extortions and harassments they have been experiencing in the hands of some customs officers at the Aflao border.

The drivers have called out on the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to come to their aid over the unfair treatment meted out against them by the officers stationed at the border.

According Nana Kwasi Amofa, a driver of the Aflao Boarder, the Customs officers have been extorting various sums of money ranging from 20,000  and above from the border users to help them cross the border.

Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia programme with host Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, he appealed to the President to come to their aid by stamping on his authority to put an end to the Customs officers’ unfair treatment.

“We are Suffering in the hands of the customs officials at the Aflao border and other boarders…there is one female customs officer who has been demanding money for her service, charging from 20,000 and above and woe onto you if you refuse to pay…they can delay you at the boarder for two weeks for no reason”, he cried out.

He further said his reason for denouncing these behaviours of customs officers is to urge them to be professionals and stop harassing and extorting money from drivers and traders.
