Prince Minkah Fears For His Life After Car Is Vandalised

The convener of pressure group, Free Media Vanguard (FMV), Mr Prince Minkah, who recently organised the ‘March for Free Expression’, has been attacked at his home in Accra.

The unknown assailants broke into Mr Minkah’s home around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, 22 May 2019, and smashed the windscreen and glass windows of his car.

The Radio XYZ and Power FM broadcaster told ClassFMonline.com that the attackers fled the scene after his neighbour fired warning shots upon hearing strange noises on Mr Minkah’s compound.

Mr Minkah said he later came out to inspect the damage cause to his car by the attackers after his neighbour called him up. Apart from the destruction caused to his car, he said some documents in it were also destroyed by the assailants “as if they were on a mission to look for something”.

The assailants, however, did not steal any property from his vehicle. The incident occurred less than 24 hours after Mr Minkah led protestors on a march and presented a petition to have authorisation licences for the radio stations that were closed, restored.

Even though he was unharmed, Mr Minkah said he fears for his safety as it appears the operation was a “targeted attack on my life”. The incident has been reported to the police station and an investigator has been assigned to the case.

This will not be the first time an attack has been launched against a journalist of Radio XYZ. A reporter with the sation, Wisdom Hededzome, was brutally assaulted about a week before the latest incident.
