EFFISCO’s Global Alumni Group Supports Alma Mater

The rapid response by EFFISCO Global Group (EGG), Alumni Association of Effiduase Senior High School (EFFISCO) in the Ashanti Region, to retool the dilapidated Computer Laboratory of the school has left the School’s Management and students brimming with hope to do better in the ICT subject in the upcoming WASSCE.

For some years now, the school’s Computer Laboratory had been in bad shape, bereft of adequate functional computers to make for satisfactory practical computer training, a situation that the school’s administration blames, largely, for the poor showing of students in the subject during last year’s WASSCE.

Therefore, when the Headmistress, Mrs. Grace Amo-Agyei reached out to EGG for support in that regards, members acted with alacrity and mobilised resources to acquire 20 Desktop Computers and a Digital Projector for immediate installation at the Laboratory so that the final-year students preparing for 2019 WASSCE could do the examination with some convenience.

Last Friday, May 16, 2019, a five-member delegation of EGG, led by Dr Samuel Adu Gyamfi, officially handed over the equipped Computer Laboratory to the school with the promise that EGG was still on preparation to do a complete refurbishment and retooling of the school’s other Computer Laboratory in the near future.

He underscored the critical role of ICT competence in the development of individuals and the nation and therefore, stressed the need for every necessary step to be made to ensure that EFFISCO students receive a holistic grooming for the increasingly competitive world.

In her response, the highly elated headmistress lauded members of EGG for their prompt response to her appeal. In her view, such collaboration was not only necessary to improve educational standards at EFFISCO but made for better equipping the students with 21st century skills.

She minced no words in commending the EFFISCO Alumni for its regular support to the school but pointed to several other challenges that the school is facing and thus, require immediate attention and support.

Mrs. Amo-Agyei hoped that the alumni shall not abandon the school but continue to be a forefront player in efforts to make EFFISCO better and comparable to any first class school in the country.

On his part, the Board Chairman of the School, Dr. Ishaq Brobbey, himself an alumnus, expressed appreciation and delight at the timely provision of the ICT equipment.

He said the gesture of EGG had brought much relief to the Board of Directors of the School whom he conceded had been worried over the preparation of students for the 2019 WASSCE because of the poor state of the school’s Computer Laboratory.

In a video message before the ceremony, the President of EGG, Mr. William Agyemang described the handing-over of the facility as another milestone in alumni’s efforts to adequately resource their alma mater. He called on all alumni to contribute generously towards the improvement of the image of the school.
