NGO donates 6,000 pounds items to orphans

The Blessed Little Angels, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) has presented food and other items worth 6,000 pounds sterling to the Children's ward of the Swedru Government Hospital and Gomoa Osamkrom Prisons. The items comprised cooked rice, soft drinks, biscuits, bags of cement and toilet rolls. Mrs Angelina Ainoson, Executive Director of the NGO who made the presentation, at the hospital said about 100 selected orphans, 40 old men and women and 60 under privileged children from the Central, Volta, Ashanti, Easter and Greater Accra regions are also benefiting from the programme. The Executive Director said the organisation had completed plans to establish a bakery factory, fish ponds, piggery farms and other economic ventures at Agona Swedru to help under privileged people especially school dropouts and single nursing mothers in the area. She said the NGO had also initiated an early childhood school where children of nursing mothers would be freely admitted to enable their parents to under take their businesses to improve their living conditions. Mrs Faustina Owusu, Nursing Officer at the Children's ward, who received the items thanked the organisers for the kind gesture and appealed to other organisations to emulate the example of the NGO. Presenting five bags of cement to the Gomoa Osamkrom Prison, Mrs Ainoson said the NGO would make constant interaction with the authorities to see how they could offer further assistance to the facility. Mr Frank Oppong, Public Relations Officer of the organisation said plans were afoot to organise a party for selected streets children at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra and enrol in school those who want to continue their education. Mr Ben Dwirah Ampratwum, Director of the Prisons expressed appreciation to the NGO for coming to the aid of the facility.
