PDS-Krobo Melee: Treat Your Customers Well – IES Tells PDS

Executive Director of Institute for Energy Security [IES] Ghana, Paa Kwesi Anamoah Sekyi has waded into the commotion between residents of Krobo Odumase in the Eastern Region and Power Distributing Company [PDS] which has left one person dead.

The residents who claimed to the ‘fed up’ protested against the outrageous electricity bills they had been receiving from the power distributors company.

They had insisted that the bills were outrageous and demanded the power company investigate the cause of the sudden rise.

The indigenes however took to the streets to protest – but a 14-year-old Thomas Partey was hit by a stray bullet after security officers fired shots to dispel the crowd who had mounted roadblocks ostensibly to prevent staff of Power Distributing Company from switching off the main transformer that supplies power to the town.

Speaking on the issues on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Paa Kwesi Anamoah Sekyi described the incident as “unfortunate”.

He sided with the residents and called on the power distributors to treat their customers well.
