NYA Partners Commonwealth Secretariat To Hold A One-Day Consultative Workshop On The State Of Youth Devt. Report On Ghana

Following the comprehensive consultations nationwide in nature towards reviewing the National Youth Policy of 2010, the National Youth Authority (NYA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) and with sponsorship from the Commonwealth Secretariat is scheduled to hold a One-Day Consultative Workshop on the State of Youth Development Report for Ghana.

With a focus to make the reviewed policy more robust and responsive to the collective needs and aspirations of today’s youth, even more compelling is the need to align the resultant priority areas and policy guidelines that have emerged as a result of the extensive consultations that have already taken place with the various international protocols, policy statements and working agreements that Ghana has been party to, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of 2030, the AU Agenda 2063 and more importantly the current government’s transformational agenda particularly as it pertains to the youth.

Undoubtedly, for the aspirations of the Ghanaian youth to be met whilst enabling them to make meaningful contributions to the nation building and development efforts, innovative, practical and holistic approaches and interventions in youth policy is required.

It is in this vein that the Ministry of Youth and Sports and NYA with support from the Commonwealth Secretariat deems it vital to organize a consultative workshop to disseminate and validate findings from the draft thematic papers for the forth-coming Ghana State of the Youth Development Report.

Key amongst the aims for this workshop are to foster awareness, greater coherence and collaboration on youth development issues among stakeholders, elicit further inputs from stakeholders in the review of the current National Youth Policy and to raise awareness among stakeholders on existing and emerging trends in youth development and empowerment at the community, regional, national and global levels.

Date and venue for the event is Tuesday 4th June, 2019 at the African Regent Hotel in Accra.
