Apostle Koduah Calls On Government To Establish Self-Regulatory Commission

Apostle Dr. Alfred Koduah, Area Head for Teshie-Nungua Area of the Church of Pentecost (COP) has called on the government and religious bodies to establish a Self-Regulatory Commission to manage religious affairs and protect the rights of the vulnerable.

This, he said should not be perceived as government meddling in religious matters, but rather working through the ecumenical bodies including; the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Catholic Bishops Conference and the Christian Council of Ghana among others with a legal mandate to represent government to sanction offenders.

Apostle Koduah made the call at the 2019 Conference of Heads of Churches and Organisations, organised by the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council at the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) located at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.

Speaking on the topic: “Challenges Facing Christianity Today: The Threat of Strange and Manipulative Prophecies", he quoted from 1Thessalonians 5:20 in the Bible, which divulged that prophecy should not be despised, 1Corinthians 14: 29 admonishes Christians to judge every prophecy and as such, no prophecy should be taken without scrutinising and evaluating it with the word of God.

He noted that Christians in Ghana should know that in a country with some 30 million people, it was no news when someone prophesised that in the course of the year a prominent politician, chief, pastor, musician, doctor among others would die, because surely someone would die.

He emphasised, “Christians in Ghana should know that in every general elections in Ghana, it was either the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that was likely to win considering their current sizes and influence so it was no news for anyone to prophesy victory for any of these parties. It only becomes news when someone prophesises that one of the smaller parties will win the general election and it comes to pass”.

Apostle Koduah also urged Pastors to continue to preach and teach the unadulterated word of God to their members so that they would not fall prey to the machinations of fake prophets and strange and manipulative prophecies. “They should continue to warn them about the activities of such salvage wolves as enshrined in Acts 20:29.”

The theologian expressed worry over the rise of false prophecies in the country and said it appeared people were developing mistrust for Christianity because of the activities of fake prophets and their strange manipulative prophecies.

He added, “Christians in Ghana must appreciate the fact that the activities of fake prophets will always be there because the Bible has predicted that they will grow from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”
