Viasat acquires UEFA Champions League broadcasting rights

Viasat 1, a free-to-air television station on Monday announced its acquisition of the live UEFA Champions League football broadcasting rights till the 2011/2012 championship. The company is said to have exclusive free-to-air TV rights in Ghana for one live match each Wednesday and will broadcast highlights from other matches. The free-to-air channel will commence the live telecast on Wednesday, February 17 with the round of 16 clashes between FC Porto-Arsenal FC at 19h20 and will also broadcast the Bayern Munich - Fiorentina later at 22h00. Rune Skogeng, Chief Executive Officer of Viasat1 in a statement copied to GNA Sports said his outfit has also acquired broadcasting rights to the UEFA Super Cup final and the UEFA Champions League final billed for the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid on May 22, 2010. Viasat1 was launched in Ghana in December 2008.
