My ‘Beef’ With Lord Kenya Wasn’t Planned - Obrafour

Back in the late 90’s through to the early 2000s when hiplife was introduced; there was a perceived feud between Obrafour and Lord Kenya. It was so fierce that most thought it would turn into real-life battle.

20 years after the release of his debut album, the Rap Sofo known in real life as Michael Elliot Kwabena Okyere Darko has revealed how his feud with Lord Kenya started

According to “rap sofo’, his feud with Lord Kenya happened after the release of ‘Pae Mu Ka’. He disclosed that on his ‘Yaa Nom ‘song, on the album had lines like: “Rap Heavyweight champion, metua town” and I was the first musician ever to say I was the Rap Heavy Weight Champion.

But Lord Kenya also thought I wasn’t but he was the ‘Rap heavyweight champion. He also claimed the title in his song and that’s how it all started.

We were mature and open-minded about it and we realized it will inure to our benefit because during that time we understood the benefits and we played along.

Any time Lord Kenya drop his album, people rushed to buy just to hear if he had thrown shots at me and it was the same when I also dropped an album.

We were very good friends and best of brothers. He spoke on the Y entertainment Podium on YFM 97.9 hosted by the Citi Buzzer in Takoradi.
