I Lived Feeling Not Safe During My Radio Gold Days– Mikki Osei Berko

Renowned actor and broadcaster Mikki Osei Berko has revealed that he received several death threats over a controversial radio show he hosted on Radio Gold. The show, Konkonsa, was one of the segments that generated a lot of controversy on the Laterbiokorshie-based radio station, in the early 2000s.

During the era, Koo Fori advised the president in the morning and 'Thy Will Be Done Korsivi Korsi' came with Konkonsa to put the icing on the cake in the evening.

Known and possibly unknown to many, the man behind the infamous Ewe-soaked-English-comic jabs was Mikki Osei Berko.

The show touched on several happenings in the political and social sphere of Ghana. In one instance, Thy Will Be Done Korsivi Korsi even referred to former President John Agyekum Kufuor as the ‘sexy eyes president’.

Famous for hit television series like ‘Taxi Driver’ and ‘Dada Boat’, the actor recounted that hosting the show was challenging.

“It was a big challenge. I lived feeling not safe…a lot of threats…there were text messages,” the actor famously known as Master Richard said. He revealed that in one instance, an official’s wife called him to inquire if he wants to destroy her husband’s work.

“There were political twists to some issues that I had with my partner at the time…most of them were politically based,” Mikki Osei Berko revealed.

“Favours were withdrawn,” he said.

The station and producers, according to him, tried to hide the identity of the character but “people got to know I was the one behind it.”

Nevertheless, he noted that “It’s important we have journalists who are objective and will say it as it is.”

Mikki Osei Berko, who said he was not linked to any political, said he misses hosting the controversial show.
