Top Actor Escapes Death

Top Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei, and new face on the silver screens, Cornelius Phanthomas, otherwise known as Kobi of the pop music trio, Rana, almost came face to face with death when they were nearly lynched at Achimota, a suburb of Accra while shooting a new movie at the location. The two, according to information available to NEWS-ONE, were mistaken for thieves by some mechanics and bystanders who were not aware there was a movie production going on. The actors were shooting a street scene with fellow actress Martha Ankomah at about 10am, under the Achimota Overpass, when the unfortunate incident occurred. Cameras for the production were placed on the overhead bridge while the actors were down on the street. David, during the shoot, was running away from Kobi who was pursuing him whilst holding Marthas hand bag. Martha on the other hand was also running after both of them while shouting their names. This gave a clear picture of bag and phone snatchers in that part of Accra, hence the near-lynching incident. Within minutes, some mechanics and people in the area quickly surrounded the actors with stones and iron rods, ready to give them some thrashing just as it is commonly done in many parts of the country. Confirming the story to NEWS-ONE in a short interview last Monday, David simply described the incident as unfortunate. It is unfortunate. At a point I felt insecure and I said to myself if that is how dangerous acting can be, then I must watch out, he added. He, however, said that was not the only incident they encountered on the same set as there was another scene a man confronted him with a knife. Kobi is yet to recover from the incident. According to him, it was through divine intervention that they were saved that day. If one person had thrown the stone, we would have been dead by now. It would be too late to explain, he said. He admitted they encountered such problems because they didnt inform people they were shooting at the location. But he said telling people they were shooting would affect the natural quality of the movie as people would stand passively as mere observers.
