Maxwell Konadu Wants Kwesi Appiah To Be Handed Contract Renewal

Former Ghana assistant Coach Maxwell Konadu wants Coach Kwesi Appiah to be given another chance despite Ghana’s exit from the Africa Cup of Nations.

Kwesi Appiah’s job is on the line after Ghana crashed out of the Cup of Nations after losing 5-4 on penalties to Tunisia.

Appiah who was handed a contract renewal on short-term basis to supervise the team for the Cup of Nations after his deal came to an end in February this year is set to lose his position as Black Stars Coach.

Maxwell Konadu wants the former Al Khartoum Coach to be handed a new deal.

“Kwesi Appiah deserves another chance. Ghanaians shouldn’t be hard on him,” Maxwell Konadu told GhOne TV.

“He (Kwesi Appiah) has discovered certain players for the country. Some of the current players know they wouldn’t be part in the next AFCON.”

“Most of the young players in the squad would come on board and build a new phase of the Black Stars so we shouldn’t harass them,” he ended.

The former Ghana international was re-appointed as head Coach of the Black Stars in 2017 to succeed Avram Grant.
