Woman Arrested Over Kidnapping In Jomoro

A middle aged woman who kidnapped a nineteen-month old baby at Bonyere junction near Half-Assini has been arrested by the Jomoro District Police Command.

A resident in the area, Bishop Oteng who gave an eye witness account, told reporters that the mother of the baby works at a restaurant in the area.

According to him, the baby's mother who comes from a town called Ndumsuazo near Bonyere Junction came to work on that fateful day and left her child in the custody of a drugs store owner on July 6, 2019.

The eyewitness said at around 1000 hours the drug store owner started pronouncing of a missing child and quickly caused an announcement to be made on Hope FM, a local radio station to help locate the child.

He said two hours later some youth in the area arrested a certain woman with the child at a town called Nawule which is near Bonyere Junction.

He said the suspect was later brought to Bonyere Junction where the youth in the area and its surrounding communities blocked the road wielding sticks, stones, cutlasses, bottles among others in an attempt to lynch the susupect but for the timely intervention of the Police.

Mr Zeprain Zenge Jomoro District Police Commander, who confirmed the incident to reporters, lauded the FM station’s announcement which led to the timely intervention of te Police which saved the suspect.
He said the suspect was behind bars at the Half-Assini Police station pending investigations.
