NDC Opens Nomination For Parliamentary Aspirants

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opened norminations for members seeking to represent their constituencies in Parliament.

The Ghana News Agency observed that nominations were opened at about 1230 hours on Wednesday in the Greater Accra region.

Mr. Francis Yaw Ahashie, Deputy Secretary for the NDC, Kpone Katamanso Constituency, in an interview with the GNA stated that, three aspirants picked normination forms just after norminations were opened.

Mr. Ahashie was optimistic that others may also come for their forms to contest the parliamentary primaries.

According to him, the constituency executives could be referees but that any executive caught openly endorsing a candidate shall be penalised accordingly.

The Deputy Secretary added that, each aspirant was expected to make a cash payment of Two Thousand Ghana Cedis for the forms.

Checks at the Ashaiman constituency revealed that only the incumbent Mr. Enerst Norgbe, had picked forms to contest the elections.

Ms Zainab Mohammed, Deputy Communication officer of Ashaiman Constituency, told the GNA that some people had expressed interest to contest Enerst Norgbe but were yet to pick their forms.

Some branch executives from the Ningo-Prampram were alleged to have picked a form for the constituency Chairman Mr. Michael Kwetey Tetteh to contest the incumbent Mr. Samuel Nartey George.

In an interview with Mr. Michael Kwetey Tetteh , he revealed that it had come to his notice that some branch executives had picked a form for him.

He explained that he was on his way to the constituency office to verify whether the information was true or not.

Meanwhile, no one had picked up a form at the Tema East Constituency office when the GNA got there.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) would hold its parliamentary primaries on the 24 August 2019.
