Former deputy Minster for local government and rural development and a private legal practitioner, Capt. Nkrabea Effah Darteh (rtd) has described former President John Mahama as a joker.

According to him, the former President who is contesting for Presidential seat in the name of the opposition National Democratic Congress is a joker who is just wasting his time.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' programme, about the NDCs Ku Yen Preko Demonstration, he added that former President Mahama is a lost course for the NDC and that they should start preparing for another term.

The New Patriotic Party will not be in power forever, just as the NDC was voted out in 2016, the New Patriotic Party will also exit power one day so they should look for a new candidate who can secure victory for the NDC.

But their decision to bring Mahama back is a big mistake.

Am very optimistic that the NPP led the President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo will secure victory for the NPP 2020.
The 'Kum Yen Preko' demonstration which was held on Tuesday, 9th July, 2019, according to the Coalition for Social Justice (CSJ) was against what they described as hardship, insecurity, and oppression being experienced under the current Akufo-Addo administration.

Ahead of the demonstration, the Convener of CSJ, Sammy Gyamfi who is also the National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in an interview said the demonstration will be epic and will send a strong signal to the Akufo0-Addo government.
