Sammy Awuku Reacts To Primaries In Orphan Constituencies

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled Saturday, September 28, 2019 for the election of its parliamentary candidates in constituencies where the party has no sitting Members of Parliament (MPs).

Members-elect in these areas which are also referred to as “orphan constituencies” in political circles will represent the party in the 2020 Parliamentary elections.

NPP National Organizer, Sammi Awuku speaking on Peace FM’s Morning Show “Kokrokoo” outlined guidelines and modalities for the conduct of the primaries in the orphan constituencies nationwide.

He revealed date for nominations to be on 20th July and close on 3rd August 2019.

Also, per the guidelines and modalities, an aspiring Parliamentary candidate is required to procure nomination forms after the payment of non-refundable application fee of GH¢2,000 in bankers draft at its Regional or National Headquarters.

Sammi Awuku added that an aspiring candidate is to pay a non-refundable filing fee to the tune of GH¢20,000. 

He cautioned that no person within the NPP should be prevented from picking nominations form to contest the primaries in the orphan constituencies.
