Solomon Akotey, A 19-year-old barber who was last Thursday thrown into jail for two months for stealing  plantain by the Koforidua District Magistrates court presided over by His worship Osei Asibey, has been released by a cherish listener of Peace FM.

Solomon was jailed after he pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing and explained that he did the act due to pressure at home. And needed money urgently to buy drugs for his sick one year three months old baby.

The convict, his sister and other relatives who were present at the court cried uncontrollably as they were not able to afford to pay the fine.

The 19-year-old barber who used to sell coconuts was released from the Koforidua Prisons after the default fine of 600 GHC placed on him was paid by a cherished listener of Peace FM  by name Madam Nancy Adjei,

After listening to the report on Peace fm filed by Michael Akrofi, a reporter, he sent money through Peace Fm to ensure his release since the case was a very pathetic one.

The family were shocked and there was tears of joy after seeing seeing thier child back after some days in prison.  Uncle to Solomon, Alex Seth Nartey on behalf of the family expressed deepest gratitude to Peace Fm and it’s management. Also to the benevolent, Nancy Adjei who sent the money to secure the bail of their ward.

Meanwhile, some philanthropist including some guests on JoyTv also contributed some amount of money to assist in the bail.

The said amount was donated to the Sister of Solomon to invest into her business to take care of the baby. Guests on the show promised to get Solomon a psychologist after his release.  Mr. Alex Nartey told Michael Akrofi and other media men present that he blamed Solomon’s waywardness to peer pressure.

According to the Uncle, Solomon is an orphan who lost both parents when he was a child. So he is being taken care of by his uncle together with his other siblings.

Due to peer influence, Solomon ended up inpregnanting a 16 year old girl, also an orphan. And to raise money for the up-keeping of the baby ended up stealing.
