Mr Emmanuel Valis Akyianu, son of former Ghana’s High Commissioner to Canada, the late Samuel Valis-Akyianu has picked nomination forms to contest the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Cape Coast North Constituency.

The 44-year old Philanthropist, a Reverend Minister and an inspirational author and speaker described himself as a ‘committed party member and a true son of Cape Coast and capable of winning the Cape Coast North seat for the NDC.

He is hoping to fulfil his father’s political ambition of becoming a Member of Parliament (MP) for the then Cape Coast constituency by ridding on the family’s long standing commitment and sacrifice to the NDC party and the people of Cape Coast.

The late Samuel Valis-Akyianu, a former NDC central regional chairman, who worked tirelessly for the party to win majority of the parliamentary seats in the Central Region in the 1990s, did not get the opportunity to become the MP as he wished despite his commitment to the NDC and the people of Cape Coast.

Speaking to the GNA in an interview on his ambitions, he said he had made the bold decision to ensure that the good works by his father, who was also the Central Regional Minister, would not be in vain.

The Cape Coast North seat has long been occupied by the NDC but its 2016 candidate, Kwabena Owusu Acheampong lost the seat to the NPP’s Babara Asher Ayisi.

The change, according to Mr. Valis- Akyianu had caused the people of Cape Coast dearly as the NPP had turned a blind eye to the plight of the people and was not showing any signs of seeking their interests.

He therefore called for a unifying force among the party’s rank and file to enable him to wrest the seat from the NPP and to change the living conditions of the people of Cape Coast North.

He bemoaned the low standards of education and poor infrastructure in the Cape Coast Metropolis and assured of more jobs for the youth if given the nod.
