Deputy Minister For Education Commends GNPC Foundation

The Deputy Minister for Education, Hon Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has lauded the Ghana National Petroluem Corporation (GNPC) Foundation for the magnificent job done in the corporate social responsibility space.

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum together with the Western Regional Minister, Hon Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah and the DCE for Ellembelle, Hon Kwasi Bonzoh paid a working visit to GNPC Foundation on Thursday, July 18, 2019 to familiarize themselves with the foundation  and the interventions they’ve embarked on so far in the area of Education. 

He urged the team to collaborate with the International Oil Companies in the country to do more interventions to improve the livelihood and welfare of the people along the coastal belts.

He also took the opportunity to offer insight into several educational reforms currently being implemented by the Education Ministry and encouraged institutions like GNPC to continue to partner government in the area of infrastructure.

The Executive Director for the Foundation, Dr Dominic Kwesi Eduah took them through some of the milestone interventions the Education and Training Unit which is one of the three (3) pillars of the Foundation has chalked so far; spanning from the building of “6” unit classroom blocks across the country to ease challenges some schools face due to the implementation of the double track educational system, building of sanitary facilities for some Senior High Schools, building of sickbays for schools, provision of laboratory apparatus and equipment for science bias schools, provision of furniture for schools, and offer of foreign and local scholarships for Ghanaian students to study STEM subjects and Special Needs Education as well as opportunity for students to study medicine in Cuba.
