Nana K.O Fordjour Bids Farewell To FOCOS

Development and Public Relations (PR) Manager at FOCOS, Nana Kwame Osei Fordjour has announced his departure from the Specialist non-profit orthopedic hospital.

This brings to a successful end his three-year reign as Head of the strategic arm of the non-profit orthopedic hospital’s PR, Fundraising and Marketing initiatives. At a “special” gathering of some key brand strategists and Marketing gurus at the University of Ghana, Legon, Nana Kwame said, “ I believe the time is right to move on to the next phase of my life; I am grateful to Prof Oheneba Boachie-Adjei and the entire FOCOS team for everything”.

During his time at FOCOS, he implemented and organized the first-ever FOCOS Fundraising dinner in Ghana, an event which has become a flagship fundraising event in the non-profit space in Ghana and consequently organized the second and third successive ones. He is credited with raising over GHC 4m for the surgical treatment of close to 100 needy patients with complex orthopedic conditions, whose surgeries cost between GHC 75,000 to GHC 100,000. He spearheaded the first internal fundraising campaign by employees of FOCOS which realized an amount of GHC 60,000 and is the brainchild of the FOCOS Culinary Cup, an inter-organizational fundraising cooking competition. He cultivated over scores of new donors for FOCOS and established their donor database.

Known for his skilled blend of Marketing and PR strategies, he engaged over 2,000 individuals in the health sector in countries across the West African Sub-region like Gambia, Nigeria and Burkina Faso. He also championed several advocacy campaigns both traditionally and through digital channels for orthopedic conditions like Scoliosis, Arthritis e.t.c. The FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital acquired its Magnetic Resonance Imaging(MRI) machine and Solar project, under his tenure.

Commenting on Nana Kwame’s departure from FOCOS, Marketing and Communication Lead at Samsung Electronics West Africa, Madam Tracy Kyei said, “Nana has indeed established himself as one of the fundraising experts of our time over the years and he did tremendously well at FOCOS; fundraising is an area many PR practitioners try to avoid but it dovetails into the stakeholder management function of a PR practitioner”.

Prior to joining FOCOS, he worked at award-winning PR Agency, Global Media Alliance. It is unclear where Nana Kwame is moving to but sources close to him have touted Suntory Ghana and Ogilvy as his potential destinations however, others claim he is going into private consulting.
