Defence Minister Launches 2 Games For Veterans

The Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, yesterday launched two money spinning games – VAG Lotto and Super 6 Jackpot – for veterans during a colourful ceremony at the Brennan Hall of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) headquarters in Accra.

The Defence Minister, who represented President Akufo-Addo, launched the two National Lottery Authority (NLA)/Veterans Administration Ghana (VAG) games. He noted that the collaboration between the two – the offspring of which is the dual games – is one of the biggest achievements of the Commander-in-Chief.

He said a positive collaboration between the NLA and VAG would bring immediate creation of 10,000 jobs.

The minister said the elimination of illegal lottery operators which has deprived the state of so much revenue over the years is another dividend the collaboration is giving birth to.

He cautioned those using VAG in illegal deals to cease henceforth, since the law would deal firmly with those caught.

The successful launch is the culmination of collaborative efforts between the NLA, the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Defence and VAG.

The Director-General of NLA, Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, said the NLA was working towards the realization of the President’s ‘Ghana Beyond Aid’ agenda. He promised more innovative programmes from the games to create more jobs.

He recognized the contributions of the Defence Ministry, Finance Ministry, NLA Board and the many other stakeholders including staff of both the NLA and the VAG.

A side attraction at the programme was a live draw demonstration for the NLA VAG Lotto.

The Director-General subsequently launched the Super 6 Jackpot Game. Chairing it was General C.B. Yaache (rtd).
