The Liberian President, Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, says nobody should be surprised that her government�s first major initiative in bilateral economic diplomacy in West Africa is with Ghana. She said Liberia�s government sincerely believes that Ghana and Liberia have immense opportunities to their mutual advantage. President Sirleaf stated these at the Ghana-Liberia Trade and Investment Forum held in Accra as part of Liberia�s Presidents visit to Ghana. The theme of the Forum is �Investment Attraction and Job Creation for Economic Empowerment in Liberia�. The Liberian President said throughout her professional and political careers, she believed that Africa�s development in the final analysis would come from cooperation between and among African countries. She said Liberia coming out of war, needs investments in all spheres of its economic life and ready to receive all investors with open arms. Mrs. Sirleaf said believes in the capability of the African to develop its own continent itself. She acknowledged her personal faith in the small and medium sector as an area that can reduce poverty. She said Liberia would need Ghana�s EMPRETEC to help them in capacity building.
