Allotey Jacobs ‘Chokes’ On John Dumelo’s Chances In 2020

The chances of actor, John Dumelo winning the 2020 general election are bleak, given the demographics of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs, has said.

Mr Allotey Jacobs has observed that in spite of Mr Dumelo’s charisma, he must work extra hard to garner enough votes, especially at the University of Ghana. Mr Dumelo was elected as the NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency with 758 votes and is hoping to win the seat currently occupied by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the past years.

With his stardom and youthful exuberance, the actor is convinced he will win the hearts of constituents majority of whom are the youth.

But, Allotey Jacobs on Adom FM Tuesday thought otherwise.

He explained that students on the university campus are heavily influenced by the opinions of their lecturers.

“The NDC’s problem is the Legon campus; the lecturers influence the voting pattern of students so John has a lot of work to do,” Mr Jacobs noted.

The former NDC Central regional chairman said though Mr Dumelo is a “magnet and can pull people along” he needs to work extra hard to win the seat in the 2020 general election.

This notwithstanding, Mr Jacobs, commended the actor for his bravery and urged him to put in more efforts to win the seat for the NDC.
