MP Returns TV Sets After Losing Primaries?

A number of delegates for the just-ended National Democratic Congress parliamentary primaries in the Afram Plains South Constituency of the Eastern Region are furious over failure by the incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Eric Osei Owusu, to share 500 pieces of 32-inch television sets promised them.

The MP brought the 500 brand new flat screen television sets to the Maame Krobo Community Day Senior High School where he camped close to five hundred delegates eve to the election and asked to swear an oath to commit their votes for him in exchange of the TV sets.

Though some of the delegates angrily rejected the offer due to the attached condition of swearing of an oath, others agreed and voted for the MP.

However, the MP failed to release the items to the delegates after losing to Joseph Appiah Boateng who polled 352 votes as against 260 votes he secured.

Some of the disappointed delegates said “he told us to swear that we will vote for him so that he gives us the TV but after the election he said he didn’t win so he won’t give it to us but my brother some of us voted for him so we are disappointed that the MP did this to us. Everybody is angry".
