Funerals in Africa are now wrapped in creativity and slowly, this new phenomenon has been assimilated into our culture.

This sort of thing was recently illustrated when a bereaved family decided to take dead footballer’s coffin to the park where he usually played to have his final game before being sent to the cemetery for the final funeral rites.

His colleague footballers, who were dressed in their traditional jerseys and boots, carried his remains to the field amidst a sorrowful atmosphere.

A brief match was played his honour after which the coffin was raised and then sent to the cemetery.
