Xenophobia Attacks: Cut Ties With South Africa If . . . - Kwamena Duncan To African Leaders

The Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan has suggested African countries to sever ties with South Africa if that will force them to stop attacking foreigners in the country.

Five people have been reportedly killed in a xenophobic attack which started in Pretoria. Mobs looted, burned and vandalized shops, properties and vehicles. Many foreign-owned businesses were targeted in the violence.

South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa has condemned the attack saying "there can be no justification for any South African to attack people from other countries."

However, Kwamena Duncan says Ramaphosa's comment is not enough and that 'leadership must be shown'.

" . . a certain leadership must be shown. If it will take the rest of Africa to take a certain decision to sever diplomatic ties with South Africa to send a clear message that we are not okay with what is going on, it should be done. Otherwise, Ramaphosa and his leaders will sit there and things will get worse," he indicated on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo'.
