Man Sells Sister For Sakawa

Akwasi Seidu, a 20-year-old resident of Accra who allegedly sent his 11-year-old sister to the Nana Atia Shrine at Sankor in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region for ritual purposes to enable him become fabulously rich, has been arrested by the police. The police also arrested a 25-year-old fetish priest, Nana Andokuma Atia and Emmanuel Oduro, 28, a herbalist, for allegedly informing Seidu to bring a virgin girl for the blood money. Daily Guides investigations revealed that Seidu had already been to the Northern Region of Ghana to perform similar rituals some years ago, after which he got a lot of money. Daily Guide gathered that Seidu later disobeyed the directives of the one who performed the ritual, leading to the mysterious vanishing of all his money. Close relatives became suspicious when all of a sudden Seidus wealth vanished, and started asking him thought-provoking questions. Realising that the situation was getting worse, Seidu went to see a fetish priest at the Nana Atia shrine at Sankor to help him get more money to save him from the imminent disgrace. When Daily Guide got to the shrine at about 11.00am last Tuesday, a lot of people had gathered at the forecourt, eager to hear the truth of the matter. In an interview, Ackah Manford, elder brother of the fetish priest, disclosed that at about 11.00pm the previous night, Seidu visited the shrine with the little girl and asked the fetish priest to kill her for a ritual purpose to enable him become very rich. He said since the gods at the shrine abhor any form of killing, he secretly organised some youth from the area who came and whisked Seidu to the Dixcove Police Station and later the Kwesimintsim Police Station. He alleged that Seidu had a special ring on one of his fingers which he wanted to use to vanish, so someone at the shrine who foresaw the attempt to vanish, hit the suspects head with a bottle to render him powerless before he was rushed to the police station. When contacted, Chief Inspector Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Public Relations Officer of the Western Regional Police Command, confirmed the story. She added that it was rather the fetish priest who asked Seidu to bring a virgin whose womb would be removed spiritually for the ritual. She said Seidu then visited his mother in Accra and told her that he would like to take his younger sister to ostensibly stay with him for sometime. The mother agreed and gave the little girl to Seidu, and instead of sending her to his house, he brought the innocent little girl to Sankor for the alleged Sakawa ritual last Friday night at about 11.00pm. At the shrine, it was alleged that the fetish priest, Nana Andokuma Atia, insisted that the girl should be killed rather than removing the womb spiritually, but Seidu resisted since he promised to send the girl back to the mother. A misunderstanding therefore ensued between the two and in the process, someone allegedly used a bottle to hit Seidus head while others officially reported the case to the police. Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Adiku has told Daily Guide that the police has immediately launched full-scale investigations into the case and were making all efforts to get the parents of the little girl who was being taken care of by the police.
