Ghana National Rugby Women’s Team Donate To Black Queens

The senior national women’s team the Black Queens of Ghana on Monday, September 16 received cash, drinks and toiletries from the female rugby team of Ghana.

The rugby team was led by the president of the federation and former chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Mr. Herbert Mensah and was also accompanied by Ghana Olympic Committee president Mr. Ben Noonu Mensah.

The Black Queens are in camp preparing for their Tokyo 2020 Olympics qualifier two-legged match against Kenya on September 30th and 7th respectively.

Acting captain of the Black Queens, Priscilla Okyere who received the items on behalf of the team expressed her satisfaction and gratitude to the Ghana rugby women’s team.

“We are grateful for what they have done for us, it makes us realize that all hope is not lost because honestly, we felt we are all alone during this qualifiers but they have made us know that there are others there thinking about us, we will do all it takes within our powers to qualify”.

We are more focused on the qualifiers because we want to make history, Olympics have eluded us for years and we are ready to make Ghana proud no matter the problems we are facing”.

“It has not been easy for us, we feel neglected because no one has visited actually not even the money that is due us has been paid, but we are not giving up because we know it will definitely come” she added.

The Ghana rugby president also promised that the senior national women’s team are free to use their facilities when they need to.
