RE: Procurement Investigation At Ghana Audit Service
AFAG is a registered civil society group committed to ensuring accountability within the public space, deepening of good governance and the eradication of corruption.
It has come to the attention of AFAG that, pursuant to the provisions of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663), an investigation was conducted by your Authority into procurement breaches by the Auditor General of Ghana. A report on the said investigations was subsequently presented to the Board of the PPA for due consideration.
AFAG is further aware that a decision was taken by the Board of the PPA in December, 2018 recommending a referral of the report to the Attorney-General for the necessary action to be taken.
AFAG wishes to enquire the following from your outfit:
1. Has the report on investigations conducted by the PPA into procurement breaches committed by the Auditor-General been submitted to the Attorney General?
2. If so, when was it referred to the Attorney General?
3. If the report has not been referred to the Attorney General, AFAG wishes to know the reason(s) behind the failure?
4. Is the PPA aware of any action being taken or having been taken in consequence of the report?
AFAG hopes to receive answers to these questions within seven (7) days of receipt of this letter. Failure to do so will compel AFAG to institute the necessary actions against the PPA and/or the Attorney-General.
