Short Commission Report: "It’s A Misplaced Demand" - Baako On Group's Ultimatum To Akufo-Addo

Kweku Baako Jnr. has described as 'misplaced' an ultimatum for government to withdraw its white paper on the Emile Short Commission Report.

The Coalition of Civil Societies Organisations Against Political Vigilantism (CCSAPV) on Tuesday, urged the government to reconsider its position contained in the white paper not to prosecute Mohammed Sulemana, who assaulted Sam George, the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram.

The group said even though they have no power to force the government, they are of the view that persons cited by the Commission for various offences ought to be prosecuted, while the victims also get compensated.

They have further given the government a one-week ultimatum to implement the Emile Short Commission Report, specifically on the prosecution of offenders and compensation of victims.

However, the Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, says constitutionally, it is impossible for the President to withdraw the white paper.

He laughed over the fact that the group has given government an ultimatum, adding, "it’s a misplaced demand."

He was speaking on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo', Wednesday.
