Prez Akufo Addo Nominates 4 MDCEs For Volta

President Nana Akufo-Addo has in accordance with article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and section 20 (1) of the Local Government Act (Act 936), nominated four Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) for the Volta Region.

They include Prosper PI-Banfoh for Ho Municipal Assembly; Ernest Quist, Kpando Municipal Assembly; Etornam James Flolu, Afadzato South District Assembly and Amenya John Kwaku, Agortime Zipper District Assembly.

A statement issued by the Local Government and Rural Development Minister, Hajia Alima Mahama, announcing the nominations, stated that “in view of the above, the Hon. Regional Minister for Volta Region is requested to liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated Chief Executives.”

The nominations follow the dismissals of the MDCEs for the areas in question.

The four sacked MDCEs are John Nelson Akorli, Ho MCE, Elvis Djampoh, Kpando MCE, David Dickson Dzopke, DCE for Agotime-Ziope and Wisdom Semanu Seneadzah Esq, Afadzato South DCE.

According to sources at the Ministry for Local Government and Rural Development, the affected MDCEs were relieved of office via a letter from the Local Government Minister, through the Hajia Alima Mahama through the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Leta last week.

Three of them are reported to have received their letters as of last Saturday, September 21, 2019 while Dickson Dzokpe aka DD Dzokpe, DCE for Agotime-Ziope is yet to receive his letter. A source at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council says, Mr. Dzokpe will be served on Monday 23 or Tuesday 24, September, 2019.
