Minister Assures Stakeholders Of Comprehensive Development In Zongo Communities

The Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development,Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid has assured stakeholders in Zongo Communities of the implementation of a comprehensive development programme in Zongo Communities nation-wide.

He said the construction and renovation of basic schools, provision of teaching and learning materials, sanitation, health-care and water projects, construction of drainages, public lighting systems and economic and social empowerment programmes in Zongos across the country, will be further improved in the following months.

Explaining in detail, Dr. Abdul-Hamid showed visual evidences to the stakeholders on numerous projects, programmes and initiatives undertaken by the Ministry and its development partners in Zongo and Inner City communities.

Dr. Abdul-Hamid made these presentations when he engaged stakeholders and opinion leaders from all constituencies of the Volta Region, at the regional capital, Ho, yesterday, 11th October, 2019. The Minister is on a nationwide tour of all 16 Regions to inspect on-going projects, hold consultations with stakeholders and provide information on up-coming projects in Zongos communities across the country. The stakeholders drawn from Akatsi North, South Dayi, Kpando, North Tongu, Juapong, Akatsi South, Ho West, Anlo, Hohoe, and other Zongos in the Volta region, expressed support for the efforts by the Minister for Inner-City and Zongo Development to involve them in projects currently being executed in their communities and those ear-marked for implementation.

The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Reverend Johnson Abuletey who participated in the meeting commended the minister for his exemplary commitment and dedication to the development of zongo communities in the Volta Region.

At two similar fora held last week, specifically at Cape Coast in the Central Region and Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Dr. Abdul-Hamid engaged stakeholders with information on projects executed and those about to be implemented. He reiterated government’s commitment to ensuring ‘’fairness, equity and national spread’’ in the implementation of the projects. The minister urged the stakeholders in all the three regions he has visited, to engage and actively monitor the projects and initiatives of the Ministry and its agency, the Zongo Development Fund.
