Wontumi Endorses Hon. Ampratwum As They Commission A Two Storey Building For Kofiase SHS

The Ashanti regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party has endorsed the second term bid of the Member of Parliament for Asante Mampong, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong.

Mr. Bernard Anwti-Boasiako’s made this public endorsement when he joined the MP for the area to commission a two storey building for the Kofiase Senior High School.

In an address to the Chiefs, dignitaries, headmaster, teachers, students, media and the residents of the community, the NPP Chairman commended the MP and his MCE for having a vision to make their community great and noted that the party would fully support him to win the 2020 parliamentary election with ease.

Mr. Bernard Anwti-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi stated that he has started a movement and he needs people like Hon. Ampratwum to make it a success story. He advised candidates who have interest in contesting the Asante Mampong to slow their Parliamentary ambition down since the party would support Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum Sarpong in 2020, 2024 and beyond.

“As a regional Chairman, I declare that Ampratwum, you are going to be a member of the movement for 2020, 2024 and beyond. It is a movement and it is stronger than apartheid”, he said.

Chairman Wontumi also commended President Akufo-Addo for having the motivation to implement the free Senior High School (SHS) policy in Ghana.

“Recently the President stated what motivated him to bring the free SHS. He disclosed that in the 19th century when America hadn’t developed, they realized that it is education that can trigger that development. For this reason, they used most of their money on free education.”

“The first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah also had that same dream but he only started in one region in the North. But in those days when he implemented it, the people in Ashanti region didn’t benefit from it. It was only people from the Northern region that benefited.” Chairman Wontumi explained.

He further explained that when President Akufo-Addo was preaching about implementing the free SHS policy in 2012 when voted for, the National Democratic Congress led by former President Mahama were against it arguing that the nation needed 10 years before it can achieve it.

According to Chairman Wontumi, free SHS has come to lessen the burden of most parent and given equal opportunity to all Ghanaian children of school going age.

He stated that “There were parents who had brilliant children but couldn’t pay school fees in the past. From 2012 and 2016, we can all recollect the pain in the eyes of our children because most parents couldn’t pay their fees. They were sacked from class because of school fees but today school fees cannot change the destiny of our children.”

“There is no way headmasters can sack children for fees and President Nana Akufo-Addo has done very well for us. Just like the Holy Bible tells us to allow the children come to Jesus because the Kingdom of God belongs to them, Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration has taught us that we must allow the children to be educated in good schools because the future of this nation belongs to them.”

Chairman Wontumi warned Ghanaians not to fall for the NDC’s propaganda that the double track system is a bad explaining that “had it not been the double track system, a lot of our youth would have become burden on us. The double track would vanish soon because the Akufo-Addo government is working tirelessly to build new dormitories and facilities to accommodate the students.”
