The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has indicated that the growth of Ghana’s economy is projected to remain above 6 percent by the end of 2019.

In the Minister’s Press briefing on Sunday, 3rd November, 2019 at Peduase in the Eastern Region following the completion of Cabinet’s 64th regular meeting and 9th retreat, Mr. Oppong Nkrumah said the meeting focused on examining the results of the government’s efforts at correcting the economic challenges inherited at the start of Akufo-Addo’s administration work and approving a framework for the 2020 budget.

Highlighting on the growth of the economy, the Information Minister said that, “growth of the Ghanaian economy had slowed down to 3.4 percent at the end of 2016; thus the current intervention programs led by President Akufo-Addo, especially in the area of Agriculture; Planting for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development and Rearing for Food and Jobs have pushed the economy up above 6 percent.

“Through the various interventions of government particularly in Agriculture, growth has seen a rebound and is projected to remain above 6% by the end of 2019,” he stated.

He added that President Akufo-Addo has instructed that resources be made available to continue with programs to engineer growth and jobs across various economic sectors; emphasizing that more opportunities are created for the Ghanaian people.

He, however, assured Ghanaians of the government’s commitment to stabilize the economy and provide a nurturing environment for the growth and development of the private sector.
