Unity Football March Organised By Ohio-US NGO Ends In An Ecstatic State

A football gala organised by a US-based Ghanaian football enthusiast, Mr. Prince Ampem-Darko, a native of Sefwi Akontombra ended in a thunderous appreciation by all and sundry who took part in the games at Sefwi Nsawora in the Akontombra District of the Western North Region.

The football gala was organized in partnership with Hope for Athletes Foundation is anchored on the need to bring the best out of young talented youth in Sefwi Akontombra District who have various skills in the arena of athletics and others reach their full potentials.

The 2-day event which started on 2nd November and ended on 3rd November 2019 at Sefwi Nsawora Community park was participated by 12 communities with Ackaakrom Vipers FC emerging as winners after beaten Asantekrom Quality Stars through penalty shoot-outs.

Speaking to the Press, Mr. Ampem-Darko, said apart from ensuring outstanding unity among the people in the various communities, the avenue was provided to the youth to showcase their hidden talents. According to Mr. Ampem-Darko, the gala was for the talented footballers within the Akontombra District to be scouted for Premier and Academy clubs inside and outside of Ghana.

He expressed his satisfaction in achieving success and incident-free event and promised to make it continuous for the benefit of the very talented youth within Sefwi Akontombra and its environs.

Mr. Ampem Darko admitted challenges and questions why some political leaders in the Akontombra District should attempt to stop the football gala with security threats just to frustrate and disorganise the gala. He urged the communities to keep united after the tournament since it was dubbed "#MeetYourNeighbourGala". The final match inspection of players was done by Chief of Fawokabra, Nana Agyei-Ba Agyei II, together with Chief of Sefwi Wasampo Nana Kofi Amoah II, infront of about Two Thousand-Five Hundred (2,500) spectators.
