Ghana’s Aviation Minister, Mr Kofi Adda, has, on behalf of the government of Ghana, signed a deal with Canadian firm De Havilland Aircraft to buy six Dash8-400 aircraft to start its national airline.

The deal was signed on Tuesday, 19 November 2019 at the on-going Dubai Air Show.

The deal is a booster to Ghana’s aviation industry as the country tries to resuscitate its national airline.

In 2004, Ghana International Airlines was established with the government owning a 70% stake while a US consortium, GIA-USA, had 30 per cent.

The deal fell through six years later resulting in the collapse of the national airliner in 2010.
