Fulani Herdsman Inflicts Machete Wounds On Cop

A Police Inspector at Donkokrom in the Afram Plains North District of the Eastern Region is currently battling for his life after he was attacked by a Fulani herdsman.

The suspect, Amadu Salifu, who is currently at large, allegedly inflicted machete wounds on Inspector Daniel Afedo who was enforcing an arrest warrant.

Having inflicted the machete wounds on him, the suspect bolted with the policeman’s official AK47 service Rifle No. AL 2190.

The incident occurred at Atiwulame, a farming village near Donkokrom, on Saturday at about 9 am.

The Inspector with two other Community Police Assistants went to the suspect’s house to arrest him over a complaint filed against him for allowing his cows to destroy a farm belonging to a neighbour.

The Regional Police Spokesman, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, said the Assemblyman for Kayara Electoral Area, Timothy Wadi, filed a complaint against the suspect before the Donkokrom District Magistrate Court on 3rd October concerning the activities of his cattle.

After refusing to attend court, a bench warrant was issued by the court for his arrest.

According to the Police PRO, the officer over the weekend went to the suspect’s house to enforce the bench warrant and the suspect upon seeing the team members offered them a seat.

He then went to his room and came out with a machete and inflicted several wounds on the police officer.

The suspect was said to have taken the AK47 rifle and even attempted to shoot the police officer, but the rifle was locked. He then escaped with the rifle when onlookers tried to disarm and arrest him.

The following morning, the suspect is said to have visited the Pentecost Church in the area and left the rifle there.
