Bantama NPP Seat....Asenso Taciturn As Incumbent MP Schemes?

Mr. Daniel Okyem Aboagye, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Constituency in the Ashanti Region, has allegedly been caught waist-deep in a game that amounts to sheer scallywag.

The MP, stands accused of engaged hirelings to pelt Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakye, a Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency, with mud on various traditional and social media platforms, because there are speculations that he, Asenso-Boakye, was interested in contesting for the Bantama seat.

The whole agenda, however backfired, as the man that the MP allegedly approached for the task was simply not interested in the whole business.

The MP reportedly wanted a dyed-in-the-wool New Patriotic Party (NPP) member and known serial caller, Kwabena Nyame, to organize his colleagues to embark on destruction mission against Mr. Asenso-Boakye, popularly called ‘Bantama Asenso.’

Mr. Aboagye would not respond to calls and text message from The Inquisitor in various attempts to speak with him about the issues.

But Mr. Nyame was able to confirm to The Inquisitor that he was approached for the grimy agenda against the Deputy Chief of Staff.

In an interview with Mr. Nyame, via mobile phone, he said that the MP, whom he knows very well and calls him ‘Who Say Man No Dey,’ invited him to Accra on August 3, this year.

“When I got to Accra, the MP met with me at one of the bus terminals at Circle and he told me that our conversation was on Asenso-Boakye,” he said.

According to Mr. Nyame, Mr. Aboagye requested him to get some of his colleagues who are vociferous like him to work on Mr. Asenso-Boakye because he wants to contest for the Bantama seat.

“Honestly, I was shocked with some of the things that Honorable said and wanted us to do against a fellow party person all in the name of becoming MP,” he said.

He is alleged to have said: “My preoccupation was to get people who would work together with me to throw mud at the Deputy Chief of Staff and the game plan was for us to get extremely busy after he (Asenso-Boakye) picks form to contest in the primary.”

Mr. Nyame’s Response To Hon. Aboagye

Mr. Nyame told The Inquisitor that, after spending time to listen to the MP,  he told him that he could not be part of the plot.

“I made the MP to understand that I worship the NPP and the President so I can’t do anything to run the party or somebody who works with the President down,” he said.

He said: “I prompted Honorable of the dangers of tribal politics, especially in a hot area like Bantama and more especially involving people from the same party.”

Mr. Nyame said that he told the MP that he should count him out of his agenda because it was not in the interest of the NPP that he (Mr. Nyame) serves.

The Inquisitor Speaks With Asenso-Boakye

When The Inquisitor contacted the Deputy Chief of Staff, he would not confirm or deny being interested in the Bantama seat.

He, however, told the paper that he was aware of Mr. Aboagye’s machinations against him.

Pressed by The Inquisitor to talk about the machinations, Mr. Asenso-Boakye said that he was not ready to speak on issues involving the Bantama NPP because of the interest of the party.
