Premier League: Week 1 : Liberty Professionals 2-2 Legon Cities FC

Liberty Professionals produced a stirring late comeback to draw 2-2 with nouveau-riche Legon Cities FC on Sunday in their Ghana Premier League opener. The Scientific Soccer Lads found themselves trailing 2-0 at home after 70 minutes. Legon Cities FC seems to have delivered on their boast by producing a gritty performance to earn a point.

They snatched the opener in the 14th minute when Emmanuel Isaaka's free kick was intercepted and the re-christened club launched a quick break. Sule, who is left-footed, cut in from the right and dribbled past two Liberty Professionals before slotting it past goalkeeper Kofi Baah. Jeffrey Degorl then doubled the lead on 70 minutes when he intercepted a clearance from goalkeeper Baah to slot home. But Liberty never gave up and eight minutes later Elvis Kyei-Baffour reduced the deficit to restore hope.

With just a minute remaining in regulation time, wonder kid Michael Ampadu struck to level the scoring to spare their blushes.
