Police Bust Five For Robbing Wholesale Shop

The Jamestown District Police has arrested five persons including an employee of a Chinese wholesale shop for allegedly attacking the shop in broad daylight at Adedenkpo, in Accra and robbing the owner of about Ghc30,000.

They are Alhassan Yusif, Charles Ekpi, Kwasi Emmanuel Ahiangbe alias Abongo, Richard Yeboah and Paul Nartey, an employee of the Chinese wholesale shop.

Four of them, Yusif, Ekpi, Ahiangbe and Yeboah allegedly broke into the shop and held one of the shop owners, a Chinese woman, hostage while they were joined by the worker in the company to rampage and loot the shop.

They are said to have made away with a backpack containing an unspecified amount of money being proceeds of goods sold during the day after attacking the Chinese woman.

Before bolting, they also took the victim's passport, the sales books of the shop and other items.

Attack 

Briefing the Daily Graphic, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mrs Effia Tenge said the suspects attacked the shop owner at about 3:30 pm on December 12, 2019. 

She said with the assistance of some eye eyewitnesses, Yusif, Nartey and Ekpi were arrested in the community while two other accomplices escaped with the booty. 

With credible information available to the police and the assistance of the earlier accomplices arrested, police immediately proceeded to Kasoa, in the Central region and apprehended Ahiangbe and Yeboah from their hideouts. 

The police retrieved the backpack containing an amount of GHC 11,580, the Chinese passport, three pocket notebooks and sales book from Ahiangbe.

When Yeboah was also searched, an amount of GHC9,100 was also retrieved from him.
