School Children Are Fed With Maggot Infested Meals - Kofi Jumah

The Member of Parliament for the Asokwa Constituency, Hon. Maxwell Kofi Jumah has alleged that children in the Ashanti Region are being fed with maggot infested meals under the National School Feeding Programme. The NPP MP told Citi News in an interview that he has incontrovertible evidence that school children in the Ashanti Region are been fed with food prepared from maggot infested ingredients and expired products. This is what I am holding and it was given to me by some of the caterers who was given some of these expired food items to usesupplied by the regional coordinator Hon. Kofi Jumah first made the allegation while contributing to a motion to thank the President for delivering his state of the nation address to Parliament two weeks ago. According to him, he has drawn the attention of the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development to the issue. Some of the caterers can not read and write so they used it, some of them can read so they exercised caution, while some didnt care they still used it. In some instances the kids refused to eat because some of the foods given to them were infested with maggotsI reported it to the coordinators of the programme at the national level and I also told the local government minister. This is the second time that the Ghana School Feeding Program has been caught up in a major scandal, involving the alleged supply of maggot infested meals to school children. The Committee for Joint Action, a pressure group, made similar allegations against the program during the tenure of office of the Kufuor administration
